Join our Cohousing Study Group

learn how cohousing works

Our San Francisco Cohousing Study Group will meet weekly for ten weeks to explore what is on the horizon as we age and to understand what cohousing can provide to us.

We’ll visit some existing Bay Area cohousing communities, and learn what cohousing is and how it works - especially in the context of aging in community.

We will use the coursework developed by Charles Durrett, a pioneer of cohousing in the USA.

The Study Group will

  • build our understanding of cohousing

  • teach us some of the skills that we’ll need to help our communities thrive

  • invite us to experience the feeling of a community forming around us during our ten weeks of study

The Study Group will consider the following topics:

  1. Aging in community

  2. Cooperation and consensus

  3. Realities of getting older

  4. Co-care

  5. Connection and co-healing

  6. Economics of getting older

  7. Philosophy, spirituality and mortality

  8. Saging

  9. Taking action, taking risks

  10. Field trip
